FAQ
Q: How long will this take? When will it come out?
A: Projects like this take many months of labor. We're a group of fans, dedicating portions of our free time to making this translation patch. We have outside obligations such as work or school to also attend to, so it'll take a while to complete. We'll announce more on release info once we get closer to completion, but please be patient with us!
Q: How would you release the English translation?
A: The English Translation will be a patch that you will need to apply to a copy of the game. Our patch will ONLY contain the files we modified and will not be playable without the data from an actual copy of the game.
You will also need a Nintendo 3DS family system with Custom Firmware capabilities to play the patch.
Q: Will this patch cost money?
A: Nope! The English patch will be completely free! However, you will need to purchase an actual copy of "Yo-kai Sangokushi" to play the patch. Our release will not work without an actual copy of the game.
Q: Will you be keeping the original Japanese terminology?
A: The team has decided to use the terminology set forth by the official English localization. As such, things like most of the localized Yo-kai names, locales, etc. will be used in our translation. However, new Yo-kai and locales unique to Sangokushi will be retained.
Though we will be using the localized names for Yo-kai, we will be retaining their Chinese surnames.
Q: Do you plan on translating other Yo-kai Watch games, like Yo-kai Watch Busters 2?
A: We have no plans to translate other games at the moment. We will not consider translating any other games until we are finished with Sangokushi.
Q: Can I join the team?

Q: What about Koei Tecmo/LEVEL-5?
A: Our project is not intended to be a threat to LEVEL-5/Koei Tecmo's business. We decided to begin this project on the assumption that both companies were no longer interested in releasing the game officially outside of Japan. We are a passionate group of fans of the franchise who want to bring Yo-kai Sangokushi to English-speaking audiences. We do not make any profit from this project, nor does anyone on the team get paid for their work. We're making this patch for free - by fans, for fans.
However, should either party (Koei Tecmo Games or LEVEL-5 Inc.) find our project a threat to their business and contact us requesting that we stop, we will comply in full to any and all demands they make.
